The district Kloster in the north of the town Bad Salzungen, below the artificial ruin Burg Frankenstein, looks back on a long and historically valuable history, which is centred around the former monastery, the Frankenstein or the old brewery.
Kloster was incorporated into Bad Salzungen in 1950 and celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2016. Remains of the medieval nunnery, from which the district got its name, can still be seen today.
Today its many associations and the proximity to nature and recreation as an attractive home for young and old characterize the village.
